We had a blast making cylinder seals and impressing them into clay!

Join education curator Elizabeth Garrison, Salem artists Sonia Allen and Helen Nute Wiens, and CASA coordinator April Miller as they guide parents and children through a variety of art-making and archaeological activities related to the exhibition. Children will learn about cylinder seals, repoussé and chasing, and a number of different archaeological practices and techniques.
This event is presented in conjunction with the "Breath of Heaven, Breath of Earth" exhibition at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art.

ART CLASS OPPORTUNITIES

Sonia is available for Teaching Residencies in the schools through Salem Art Association. An experienced art teacher for all ages, Sonia is available for Workshops in the following areas: book arts, watercolor, printmaking, sketchbook journaling, and mixed media work. She also offers a collaborative Art-Poetry Workshop with poet Dawn Diez Willis.
Instruction for individuals or groups is also available by private arrangement. Birthday parties, home school groups or neighborhood get togethers are great venues for art activities.
